Ron Kupferstein

Ron Kupferstein, Director

Ron was born in the Bronx, New York. At the age of 10, seeking a better place to raise the family, his parents moved to Hollywood and shortly thereafter, settled in West Los Angeles. Here he completed his public grade school education. Ron was then accepted into UCLA’s School of Engineering and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.

While going to UCLA, Ron started working in a local Hospital owned by a national Hospital Management Corporation. Here Ron advanced through a number of business and administrative positions until his promotion to the local Regional Corporate Offices. Upon his graduation from UCLA, the company made him an offer to stay with the Company, including the support to get his Master’s Degree. Although he always wanted to be either an Engineer or Architect, the opportunity to utilize both his creative and newly acquired business skills was too hard to pass-up.

After acquiring his Master’s Degree in Health Administration from CSUN, Ron was appointed the C.E.O. of an Orange County Hospital.  Within a couple years – 1977 - he and his wife, Merri, decided to move their growing family to Huntington Beach. As his career progressed, he held other Hospital C.E.O. positions as well as Chief Operating Officer for a national Hospital Corporation with responsibility for 37 Hospitals West of the Mississippi.

In 2007, with the financial support of 3 partners, Ron acquired a Hospital that was in bankruptcy and had been closed for 4 years. The Hospital was in total disrepair, void of medical equipment, etc. However, within 14 months, the Hospital was renamed, remodeled, relicensed and became Accredited. Ron remains the President and C.E.O. of Monrovia Memorial Hospital.

Ron always hoped the day would come when he would be able “give-back” to his Community his time, energy and support. Therefore, he is honored to not only be on the Board of the HBPCF, but also the Board of Directors of The Boys and Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley. He is also a supporter of the Huntington Beach Youth Shelter and Colette’s Children’s Home and served on the Huntington Beach City Council’s Homeless Commission.
