On June 12, 2024, at the Huntington Beach City Council Chambers, five exceptional teens were honored with the Gil Coerper, underwritten by The Kupferstein Family Foundation and Jake Olson Scholarships by the Huntington Beach Police & Community Foundation (HBPCF). These scholarships are designed to support students in their pursuit of higher education or vocational training.

Presented by Dianne Thompson, President of the HBPCF, each scholarship offers $4,000, distributed as $1,000 per year. The scholarships are in their ninth year, commemorating Gil Coerper and honoring Jake Olson. This year's deserving recipients, selected from a competitive pool of 34 applicants, are Pauline

Blumenkrantz, Quinn Hartman, Chloe Pajaro, Zoe Payne, and Victoria Jamison.

Congratulations to these outstanding students! The sky is truly the limit for your

future endeavors. Fly high!

HBPCF Scholarship Program

Since 2016, the Foundation has granted scholarships totaling more than $78,000 to 56 students.  The HBPCF offers scholarships to students graduating from a high school in Huntington Beach, who plan to attend an accredited college or trade school.  Students who are residents of Huntington Beach but attend high school in another city are also eligible. Starting in 2023 four scholarships of $4,000 each are paid $1,000 per year/recipient up to 4 years. This scholarship is renewable provided students maintain eligibility by submitting a renewal application and providing documentation they have maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Scholarship funds are raised by the HBPCF through the generosity of individual and corporate donors.
